I noticed this configuration a couple of nights ago , Chris. They mentioned
it on the radio Wednesday morning so I had another good look last night again.

CONJUNCTION!! Thank you, I've been trying to think of that word for like 3 days now. I wonder if I can see this from Florida. I've been out of astronomy for too long, I don't even know where anything is in the sky anymore. :(

I remember watching the "Golden triangle" in winter 1979/80 while walking to the railroad station in Rapallo early morning on my trip to Genoa Sestri Ponente, where I worked. I told about it in the office and almost everybody watched it. I think they were 2 planets and a star, but I cannot remember their names.

Excellent pic, Mike.

Thank you, it was a great night for the Aurora. This is at MP 147 of the Parks Highway at the Alaska Veterans Memorial.

I've been watch the two planets getting closer and closer for weeks. Wasn't this and the alignment of the other six planets supposed to happen on December 21st? It's amazing the B.S. that people are putting on the internet. The other day the pizza delivery guy made a comment that the current conjunction is proof that Dec. 21st will be the end of days. I told him that by Dec 21st the two planets will be nowhere near each other in the sky and that no conjunction event will occurr on that date. He walked away not beleiving a word I said. So sad, I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid on Dec 20th.

Ooops no picture?

Sorry, I was referring to the one I had posted. I have loads more from that night but mostly they concentrated on the Aurora.

The thing is that he is a college student. But our short conversations have not revealed what he is studying. I hope it's not astronomy.
