Through the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman
Will We Survive First Contact?
Premieres Tuesday, March 6 at 10PM E/P

Mankind longs for proof that we are not alone in the universe, but the moment of first contact will certainly mean the end of the world as we know it. Whether that is a bad thing for humanity or the beginning of a great future is the subject of much debate. In this special episode of the critically-acclaimed series Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman, we'll meet scientists probing the big questions: Will any species we encounter be warlike? How will we talk to creatures with whom we share no common ground? Could they have come here already? And can we visit aliens on their own turf?

We may be alone in this Universe but at the same time not have been alone as
the only source of intelligent life. There may well have been others out there
but their life's time span of existence may be over and have become extinct.
If this be the case then trying to find evidence of their existence will be very
hard indeed. This may be a reason why, so far, we have been unable to detect
evidence of other extraterritorial civilisation because their radio waves for
example have long passed by our planet.

Yes, what you say is true.

It's also likely that we are not alone now, but because of the distances and other physical aspects, we will never know.

Search On!

I suspect we will not know until such times when we are able to spread our wings out fully
into the universe and start to physically search for evidence.
Australia wasn't discovered because it came to us, no, we discovered it because we went to it
and it was only 10,000 miles away? Earth is the receiver looking for a stray intelligent extraterrestrial signal.
There could be many-many stray signals out there just looking for a receiver if only that receiver could just
be in the right place to hear it.

cant wait the third season

I don't think it the third season starts until June. Glad most of you watched the show. I don't buy everything physicist Michio Kaku, says. Everyday we are finding new things, about this universe. Matter, dark matter, dark flow, black holes, etc. I think the things I mentioned, changes my view about life beyond our solar system.

We will discover whats out there when, in time, we are able to circumnavigate
out galaxy and return to earth within one year. Until we can do this then the
best we can hope for, regarding extraterritorial life, is that coming from the ears
of seti. Still, had we now the ability to circumnavigate out galaxy in a
year it would still take us most probably several hundred years to completely
explore the milky way. Which leads me on to have we possibly been visited by
aliens in the past? Well, if we have then these aliens were very-very lucky
in finding us. For we, then, were not advertising our existence to the rest
of the universe such as we are doing today.

We sent people to the moon. That was the end of space exploration for us. We now use probes to venture out there, let's not forget all the telescopes we use.
If we can't get someone to mars, without being hurt, then we are a species of dummies. I believe those aliens want no part of us. We want war, we will create it if needed. We rob, kill, etc. I hope when we do find something out there it will have more compassion than ourselves.

Aliens could have been here since the beginning of time. They did their thing, and they will not be back. Maybe if they are around, they are from another universe, or another A dimension is a measurement such as length, width, or height. If you talk about the dimensions of an object or place, you are referring to its size and proportions.

The universe is about 14 or 15 billion years old. With those kind of #'s et should have phoned home awhile ago.

Mr. Freeman's voice is a true treasure, and adds immensely to the enjoyment of the material presented. A wonderful series.

Dr Kaku's greatest gift is his ability to convey advanced concepts in such a manner that virtually anyone can understand and enjoy the subject matter. Of course he's not right about everything, he's human, and our understanding of the universe is still very incomplete. That doesn't mean he's not a brilliant physicist. I aspire to be like him; I have a terrible time sufficiently articulating scientific concepts to inquisitive individuals that deserve a good answer to their questions.

As for the show, it really is enjoyable. The imagery looks great on my HDTV. I had no idea it was in its third season, I thought it just came out recently. I'll definitely be watching.

i need to find a way to be able to watch the new episodes :)
THANKS Lynn

Welcome! Maybe you can get a you tube video of some of the shows.:-)
I did not enjoy the first episode. I really enjoyed tonight's show.

Is the universe alive? Yes! It is with lot's of unanswered questions.
Quantum mechanics, to black holes, and more in between. It's the In Between,
that know one understands, for now.

All the best,

First?

We think advanced intelligent life would not have any understanding of forward covert ops? Oops... :)

Honestly, such short sightedness should be behind us by now yes?
Electrons started spinning, electrons are still spinning and electrons will be spinning tomorrow to the best of our knowledge therefore either change in acceleration is persistent or friction is fractally less than understood.

Great stuff on these shows. Lots of good questions and even a few good possible answers. I have been adjusting my schedules of other activities to watch them.
