I beg to differ with Gatekeeper's assessment and conclusion. I believe the problem is not on the user's end but on S@H's end. BOINC is working just fine, but S@H constantly defers efforts to both upload and download packets. I have seven packets sitting on BOINC's transfer screen as I type this. I also participate in Cosmology@home, and that project continually provides packets for me and rarely defers communication attempts. While I have allocated 80 percent of my computer's time to Seti, all eight of my processors are computing Cosmology packets and the GPU sits idle, all because S@H has deferred packets--some for one hour and others for nine hours. About once a day, S@H will download a number of GPU packets and occasionally one or two CPU packets. Attempts to initiate contact S@H using BOINC, which has very limited utility, have been in vain. In addition, I have made no effort to hide my computer, so if one cannot see it, then blame it on user-unfriendly software. |

I won't argue with you, but I will state one very relevant statistic: Cosmology@Home: Active Users: 7,140 Active Hosts: 9,744 Seti@Home : Active Users: 146,647 Active Hosts: 220,795 And the deferral you're mentioning is a problem, not with S@H, but with BOINC version 6.12.xx. Try downgrading to 6.10.56/58. That will help. |

Hi Gatekeeper, sorry to step on your toes but if someone would check the "Number Crunching" area they would notice many users with similar problems. If this is not your problem then the same is true of the moderator on the "number crunching" board. I have posted there but like all these issues they just get pushed off the main page by other relevant posts or discussions. As far as my option to hide my PC... if you have an issue with that I suggest you take it to your software developer. Seti gave its users the option to hide their PCs and in today's computing environment its nice to have the privacy option. Thanks S@H. Now back to the problem. I updated my Bonic/Seti software twice in hopes of fixing the problem so going back to V6.10 is not a solution. Also... the only problem I have connecting to internet sites is with the Bonic/Seti software (SW). Oh! I don't have to go thru the Bonic/Seti SW to get to this message board. I simply type the Http address or select it in my Favorites list. I have run jobs for Seti since Jul 2000. I have never experienced such an outage. I don't follow the Seti forum normally. So I am not one of the enthusiasts that you interact with normally. I do support the Seti project and as a typical know-nothing user I just want your SW to work. You should know that I have 30 years computer SW and HW experience and I created some of the 1st websites that were on the Net. |

My upload started working very well when I set the HTTP Proxy to 69.163.96.2:8080. Downloads....well they suck to say the least. And, I agree: the problem is in S@H--Einstein up-and down-loads work VERY well. The server status page shows that the download servers are up, pinging them yields a 35ms average, and I still have had no downloads for over a week. So, are the download servers UP or DOWN? |

Can you explain the reason why seti credits are not assigned in statistics since 12/9? Take a look at primegrid they have the same mole of job of seti..... But it works..... As i typed a few days ago.... It' time to call someone who knows what to do. Seti is going to loose a lot of fun and it is a shame. |

Will someone please lock this thread to stop silly people polluting it any further with SETI problems when this is about the BOINC download server which has nothing to do with SETI@home problems. Ggrrrr.... Cheers. |

This thread is about the Boinc Download Server (aka isaac) over at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ where the Boinc Development Forums are hosted and where all the Boinc Installers are available to download, not the Setiathome Download Servers (aka anakin & vader), Notice isaac is Not mentioned on the Setiathome Status Page Claggy |

Hrmmm. Yet another example of a pedantic conformist attempting to squelch the free transmission of information. Get out of your cubical and get a life! Oh, I'm not sorry at all. |

The funny thing about non-conformists is that they're all alike. ;-) No one is trying to squelch the flow of free information... they're saying there's a time and place for everything, and this is neither. |
