Pretty incredible video. If you are in the USA or anywhere in the northern fringes of the world, watch your skies tonight and tomorrow for what could be one of the most intense Northern Lights show in recent times. They could be visible as far south as Pittsburgh, PA and NYC! This really gave me goosebumps. Don't expect too much electrical and communication issues...NASA says there will be few, if any that many will notice.

Huge solar flare explodes on camera

A flash of light, a burst of energy: In a rare video captured by NASA, a solar flare is caught on camera. The flare peaked on Tuesday, creating a massive cloud that covered almost half the sun, NASA said. Solar flares are caused by a build up of magnetic energy, released into the solar atmosphere. The amount of energy is equivalent to millions of hydrogen bombs exploding at the same time.

Also: We might see northern lights here tonight

That's awe inspiring footage.
Now you've got me wanting a set of solar filters for my telescope.
