There is a similar book from about 20 years ago you might enjoy "Holy Blood, Holy Grail".

Thanks I'll have a look at my next public library stop.
One thing for sure is that DA VINCI CODE makes me want
to know more about his works. I always knew the guy was
a genius but didn't know nothing about him and his "funny"
relation with the church. Interresting.

Yes it is a great book. I read it years ago. Unfortunately I lent my copy to some one and never got it back. You would probably like "Oh Jerusalem" if you have not already read it.

Actually I've been stuck halfway towards finishing Gödel, Escher, Bach: An eternal golden braid for about 6mo. I think I'll finish that off first before picking anything new up.

I have really enjoyed "Oh Jerusalem" Another good one is from French
writer GERALD MESSADIE "L'homme qui devint dieu" in english it would
be like "the man who became god" I am not sure if it has been translated
but he wrotes others that have been.

Messadie, Gerald. History of the Devil Trans. Mare Romano. New York: Kodansha, 1996.

Now I have just ad "The source" to my next reading list.

How very Christian of you. I had at the beginning of these discussions hoped that based on what I saw in your first posts that I would get to witness some good debates on religion from someone who was trustworthy, knowledgeable, honest and capable of a discussion far more intelligent than is able to flow from my meager thoughts. I'm sad to say it appears I was wrong.

And it is most disappointing to see that you do in fact appear to be the hypocrite that people have been claiming you to be. I've seen many examples which prove that claim to be true. But the above sentences probably proclaim it the loudest. In those two sentences one can see arrogance, hate, intolerance and other signs of an overinflated ego which indicate to me that perhaps you would be wiser to take more of Jesus' words to heart in how you live your own life before you try forcing them on others.

I dont see the woo woo man trying to force his belieif on others
He's obviously had his nose buried in the good book for a long time
One might say he knows it inside out
But all his witnessing is not to convince other people
Because he glorys only in himself
The woo woo man could care less for what others believe
He knows he's God's special favorite
I bet God has a special surprise in store
For when the woo woo man shows up expecting to collect his reward

So many on this thread talk about God did this and God sits on a throne and God is responsible, or not, or exists, or does not. But no one has defined what God is. Are we talking about a corporeal being? A spirit (that needs to be defined too)? A concept? How can you claim something doesn't exist when that something is undefined?

Take a crack at it: at the least it will begin to tell us how some of the beliefs on this board began.
