The lyrics have been bandied about for years.

Hate? A man dissing his new wife?

I read many interpretations of it years ago.
I seem to recall a difference of the two basic words in the title...

You have.....or You hate....... it was never answered to my recollection.
The music is awesome. But what do the lyrics mean to those who have lived the language?

Please kindly inform the kittyman of the meaning in your tongue.

And if it's bad, I mean no disrespect.

I just need to know, please.

"You hate" would be written "Du hasst" (or "Du haßt" before the German orthography reform).

The translation of the whole line is

You have - You have asked me - You have asked me and I have said nothing.

So, it's definitely "You have", but I think Rammstein deliberately used the similarity of the two words for their purpose ;-)

I guess that´s why they are artists and not attorneys at law.
Artists play with words and tools to create art. Art has a different meaning for everyone. If art moves lots of peoples heart and/or brains, the artists get famous and achieve success.
Attorneys at law just win [or lose] trials when applying rules and laws, which have to be very clear and without misunderstandings to everyone.
It is exactly the same stick but with opposed poles.
I have listened to some of their songs and I do not like them much...not my style.
One of the best German groups I really enjoyed is/was BAP, although they always sung slang [Kölsch/dialect from the city/region of Köln], which is hard to undestand if you are not a native German.

hallo .. oder hi .. uli, wie immer du grade sprachlich eingestellt bist - und vielen dank.

ich versteh nicht so recht - oder besser steig aus - was da so viele glauben, dauernd motzen & "fighten" zu müssen. seit seti wieder online ist, hab ich ziemlich viel arbeit bekommen. logisch, dass die server zu sind, wenn alle nach neustart plötzlich draufhämmern.
aber zumindest hier .. läuft alles sehr gut; die maschinen sind ausgelastet, downloads suspenden manchmal .. na ja, und auch beta rechnet wie blöd.
