I just hope it won't be like 2000 in florida and other states at the same time !!! Imagine, recounts in many states, another court decision and Bush being reelected. It could turn into a civil war... |

> No, here's my final prediction. Why are all the states at Québec's borders Démocrats ? Could it be some culturals influance from the Nouvelle France ? I wonder. |

Look, Quebec was 50.1 to 49.9 on secession, and it survived. There's less likely a chance at civil war here because most people either don't care or are so disenchanted that they'll declare the System as the new Public Enemy #1. As for why the NYNEX states are all Democrat... I think you've missed the point. Look at the scores. |

I wonder how many Americans could mention that. Hat off, Good general culture. |

And good food too! I've never had a good onion soup since I was last in Montreal. I used to go to SUNY Plattsburgh for a few semesters (What a mistake!), and the only source of entertainment was either getting drunk, getting laid, getting stoned, getting an education, or getting off one's ass and go to Quebec. The secession movement started to take on steam while I was within 150Km of Montreal, and since the CBC could be picked up so well on the radio, I took an interest. Anyway, I doubt that it's the French nuance that makes the NYNEX corridor Democrat (Actually, New Hampshire will most likely head Republican), but rather that these states tend to be highly urbanized and have commercial interests abroad, while the oceanless states tend towards national industries (Logging, ranching, lynching) and have less of an industrial base. Oh well... I've done the day's duty, and now I'm off to get some food and play Oni until the polls start closing. Those who chug beer, bite fingernails, and chain-smoke with their eyes glued to the TV set during the World Cup will know exactly what I'll be doing after lunch. It's gonna be a bumpy ride! See you guys at 00:00 UTC! |

America is too apathetic for civil war, even if it now needs it! :-) Like this "heartwarming" story from "the great democracy": Supreme Court allows Republicans to challenge voters at Ohio polls |

Scientist Stephen Hawking Decries Iraq War "The war was based on two lies," said Hawking. "The first was we were in danger of weapons of mass destruction and the second was that Iraq was somehow to blame for Sept. 11. "It has been a tragedy for all the families that have lost members. As many as 100,000 people have died, half of them women and children. If that is not a war crime, what is?"[/b] ---- We are not talking about some African dictator or Milosevich here ! We are talking about the great USA !!! How could people accept this ? Why are everybody so silent about that ? It is unaceptable. Since death penalty is legal in the US I would put Bush, Cheyney, Rumsfeld, Powel, Rice and Aschcroft on the death row and I would be glad to push the red button myself. When I think bush is at 50% in the polls it makes me sick. Really. EDIT It was meant to be in the Flame thread. |

>How could people accept this ? >Why are everybody so silent about that ? >It is unaceptable. The only thing I can figure is people enjoy war. It's costly in every way imaginable. Rarely are there any winners- everybody loses. It's results reverberate for years with screwed up minds and bodies. The destruction of the planet is much more than physical. People must just like to do it. Every few years somebody's having another go full bore.- It's the ultimate 'Grand & Glorius' enterprize Why else make war if not to satisfy some berserk desire to waste people? No sarcasm or cynicism intended. Humans must just like to kill. |

ENOUGH OF THE MEDIA POLLS; LET'S COUNT THE PEOPLE'S VOTES! (Note the difference between the Popular vote and the Electoral College vote) EDIT: Link deleted. Every webpage has different projected results. I remember how the big three ABC/CBS/NBC really screwed the pooch 4 years ago.
