Ok here's some political football folklore. The election is determined by the Washington Redskins depending on a win or loss the game before the election. If they win than the incumbent gets voted into office. If they lose then the challenger gets voted into office. Today they lost to the Green Bay Packers. So following this tradition John Kerry will win.

That was basically what I was doing last night - Change the Uncle Sam outfit to Death's regalia and the gas for a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster...

gawd, if Americans are dumb enough to allow Bush in again, then I'm glad I have some interviews lined up over here, after which in another two years I can burn my US passport! ;-)

PS -- I love this picture of Cheney --- "Aloha you friggin' mass-murderin' Halliburton-lovin' lizard"

Was listening to the BBC's World Service - Apparently I'm not the only one with an eye on the exits. Three people in Ohio and two in Florida were interviewed and all said they were seriously considering emigration.

This election is lost even before the polls open...

Perhaps countries will allow you to claim political refugee status from the US? I almost tried it in Denmark in '02 and they were willing to give it a go.

I've tried a few times to go back to the states to live- after a few months I start spinning in circles screeching. Friends deliver me shaky and stumbling to the airport where I mutter to myself in delirium til I get bit by that first mosquito and breathe deep again the vivid fragrance of home:
faulty plumbing and flowering trees and boiling lard and thick black coffee
I cant live up there. It's just too crazy....cc

There is 100 000 Americans living in France and there is a bar in Paris
where they often meet (forgot the name) The owner always organise a non
official election during the presidential race. He told the news that
his "bar election" had always predicted the next president in the past
60 years. The results are now Kerry 60% Bush 40%

Sounds like a joke...

100,000 Americans walk into a bar to vote...

Around here, the bars are closed and no liquor can be sold while the polls are open...as if voting sober will change anything!

Stewie: So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?

that reminds me of when David A and his wife were here in Oxford visiting, they were at a pub and some loud-mouthed American tourist was inflicting his opinion on everyone about how "Bush is a strong leader who saved the world" etc etc. I guess it was a real laugh-riot.

well hopefully this US comp sci professor/ex-pat's electoral-vote-based-on-up-to-date-poll-data website is correct:

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

EDIT: this is cool, turns out this popular site was run by famed O/S comp scientist (and fellow US-expat) Andrew Tenenbaum:

electoral-vote.com webmaster unveils ;-)
