Stan Friedman, is talking SETI, and cover-up. After half a century of investigation, a former nuclear physicist -- who worked of fission and fusion rockets for companies like Westinghouse and Aerojet General Nucleonics -- is convinced that not only are UFOs real, the government has known about them since 1947. Here's the good part from the link: "What really bothers me is that the SETI people will tell you there is no evidence for UFOs. Well, they certainly don't reference any, so there must not be any, right? Wrong!" True or False statement?? If anyone here detects a signal it would have to go thru national security. Point being, we would never know. The government is not going to let anything that has to do with a signal, let alone a UFO! 40 years running and nothing. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/06/08/vast-ufo-coverup-stanton-friedman/?test=latestnews |

Hmmm fox news reporting a story about a UFOer that brings once again Zero evidence but 100% conjecture to the table. Heck, He's convinced me!!! I wonder why we haven't gotten a cure for cancer from these aliens. Or is that reserved for special people? In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

If Dr Freidman has proof of the alien space craft then surely he can do better than Foxnews, not being in the US I can't watch it myself, but why does he not publish all his proof/evidence as he would in a peer review journal,if he is atall convincing, without comming over as some sort of raving nut case, maybe he could get some backing for the release of this information by the US goverment(I am assuming he is talking about the US goverment) Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

I believe there is something out there greater than ourselves. Why should aliens cure cancer. The cure is most likely in the rain forests, which man himself destroys. LOL, ok...back to Stan. He's still a physicist. So if he's nutz than they all are. |

FOX news where the interviewers have a heck lot more to say than the interviewees. What an egotistical self opinionated lot. Fair and balanced my toe. Even O'Reilly tried to shout down Obama. The reknowned aetheist Richard Dawkins gave O'Reilly a touch of his own medicine. Priceless. |

Re cancer cures as there are almost as many causes for /of cancer as there are varieties a"cure"will be a long time comming if one means a cure for all at one go.There are cures for a lot of individual cancers but not a Universal cure. And as for the supposed Aliens if they are in this Solar System they are probibly also looking for a "cure" for cancer. Aliens, are not going to give a cure for a universal cancer. |

I am convinced there are ongoing intelligence programs to make the world think that the USA has alien technology. Whether they actually do is an entirely separate issue. |

The ongoing intelligence program or" ignorance program" is that a Star Wars type of initiative initiative to protect against incoming hordes of ICBM's would actually work. I don't think too many other countries that matter believe in alien visitations. |

If aliens came, there would be a mass invasion!!!! If aliens came, they wouldn't want it known!!!! If aliens came, they'd be friendly!!!! If aliens came, they'd be hostile!!!! Getting f****** annoyed of these threads. NO ONE KNOWS!!!!!!! We are limited by the human imagination, and our experience, which in itself is limited. All the conjecture in the world isn't going to change the fact that we have no friggin idea. It may well be, and probably is, beyond our comprehension what any alien civilisation will want. They may want to impregnate mice as a past time. They may think watching grasshoppers jump is hysterical. They may have a weapon that kills all living things and just make off with the resources!!! WE HAVE NO IDEA!!!!! |

In relation to the topic at hand. Where would they come from and how far away are they ?. How do they get here and how fast do they travel? How do they Know we are here ? Premise: We are not detectable until Electronic emissions Betray us, Premise: Radar, Television etc is no more than 70 years old Premise: There are no habitable planets within 100 light years from Earth Therefore: no one outside of 70 light years knows that we are here. Therefore: No civilization capable of visiting has heard us. Therefore: No one who could travel to Earth knows we are here, and, Conclusion: We have not been visited recently by Aliens. |

That's basing knowledge on OUR limited knowledge of how things are understood by US. Which, with my limited understanding, would be VERY limited. We all keep forgetting. We are ONE species, that thinks ONE way. Something more advanced than us may be Vulcan, i.e. no emotion. Next species may be devoid of moral obligation. Next one may run on base instinct. WE HAVE NO IDEA!!! Our knowledge is NOT the be all and end all of how other species should, or will, behave. Crap. We still don't know what gravity actually is. Well, define it for me other than the attraction of 2 bodies. I know of 4 theories on it. None of them can be proven. Aliens will be literally, ALIEN to us. |

Saying that an alien species will behave one way or another is pure arrogance. To put it simply, we have no idea whatsover. Except of what we know. Which is very little. We cannot say all life will evolve as it has here. Pure arrogance again saying that, life must all evolve the same way. We do NOT know. We can only theorise on the LITTLE that we know. |

Well, It's true in the ultimate phliosophical sense that we don't really fully understand anything at all. We are left to "model" reality as we perceive it. You can say we don't understand gravity and that we don't really know what an electron is. No arguement here. EXCEPT. We know how gravity behaves--we have two ways of looking at it that guides us to the moon and keeps our satellites aloft. Same with the electron--we know it's mass though we only know mass as a resistance to acceleration. We know its charge. We know how to generate, store and use it to drive the engines of our economy.
