I hadn’t attempted to activate BOINC in months. When I was logging on with each startup, having signed up for SETI, World Grid and Rosetta, I soon quit getting any assignments from the last two. Then SETI quit sending any assignments. Now, on a whim, I checked it again. SETI complains that I’d not been requesting any assignments or reporting results; I guess the implication is that they’re just not going to give me any more projects. Yeah, that’s true; I’d given up. I wrote for technical support at one time, and the gentleman was mystified as to the cause of my problem (thought I thought it might have something to do with my outgoing firewall). No big deal; my contribution was small and I doubt I’d have been the one to make world news with a dramatic contact. I write only because others may be having similar problems and just giving up (as I’d done months ago). Also, if we’ve been excommunicated it would be nice to let us know so we can uninstall BOINC. Yours truly, John Mayer |

Can you please tell which BOINC you use? Can you please show the messages you get? Have you kept BOINC installed on your system for all this time? |
