Could we have extra columns on the pending tasklist web page to show the identity of the wingmen currently processing a task, and of those who have aborted oor timed out please ? It would be nice to know who's holding back your score ! |

its as simple as going into your pending work clicking on the WU id number and then the computer # that is still not finished. the individual is right there In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Another feature that would be nice is to know if your wingman has started your task or not. Does anyone know of away to count all the tasks that have been done on one host or thought one users account? |

finding if your wingman would be invasive and a cause for worry. I wouldnt want SETI checking in on me. Also Seti would be burning up a massive amount of bandwidth just checking on all the millions of WU's that are already out there. Seti/boinc doesnt count the WU's. The credit system is much different than the old system. Each WU now is graded on FlOPs the more flops the more credit. the old system counted each WU no matter the difficulty as 1 Long story short. You can keep count of the work you've done but its of no value. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

It would be nice to know who's holding back your score ! I'm not a big fan of this idea. It sounds too much like a Witch Hunt. Why do you need to know who's holding back your score? To use as some sort of Hall of Shame list? To harass them via PM demanding that they manually intervene in BOINC's scheduling and push the workunit through just so you can get your credits faster? Even if you specifically wouldn't do any of this, I know plenty of people who would. I wouldn't want to arm them with such information to allow them to do any of this. |

Another feature that would be nice is to know if your wingman has started your task or not. Does anyone know of away to count all the tasks that have been done on one host or thought one users account? That would require another table entry in the database, and that would require the BOINC client to contact the servers more often just to give an update whether a particular workunit has been started or not. Even if this was done during the normal comms period between the client and the server, the extra overhead would be killer, especially since SETI's bandwidth has been maxed out on more than one occasion. Even if more bandwidth were available, I don't think such a feature is too important in the overall scheme of things. Such information would only cause more worry and panic with users who are already obsessive about checking their workunits and checking their partner's, especially if a particular workunit were nearing it's deadline. People would start harassing their quorum partner's via PM, "Just wanted to let you know you have this task that hasn't started and I'm still waiting for you to finish it so I can get credit!". On top of that, there's also the problem of ghost workunits, which PM's like that would cause even more concern, "What? I don't have that workunit on my machine! Should I? Where did it go? Is there something wrong with my machine?" It's just not necessary. |

Thanks skildude & Ozzfan for your input. I can see now how people could get PM's asking them to do certain workunits before others. |

I don't think you'd get many takers. I typically have 400+ WU's onboard my big PC and to suspend every other WU just so I could hurry up and finish one is not going to happen. That is just to much trouble. Oh and please dont start harrassing people to get WU's done faster. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I understand people will not like my idea. With this idea the thought of asking people to hurry up & finish work was not my idea at all. |
