I'm migrating to linux at the moment and have installed de linux version of Boinc some time ago. I was checking the settings (as Boinc is running while I'm working on the PC, CPU-usage is constantly 100%) and found that SETI has been generating errors (see http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?userid=526913&offset=0&show_names=0&state=0 ). I am wondering what is causing these errors? I noticed that these errors "started" at the same time when SETI "switched" from using 'SETI@home Enhanced v6.08 (cuda)' to 'Anonymous platform'. I found a app_info.xml that seems to be the cause of this switching behaviour, can I delete that file? Thanks for the help... |

I found a app_info.xml that seems to be the cause of this switching behaviour, can I delete that file? How did that file get there in the first place? It isn't installed by BOINC. If you delete app_info.xml, all currently downloaded tasks will be aborted. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. agreeed if you are running on a cuda card you need that file. Seti doesnt run the Cuda cards on Linux natively. So you had to have installed an 3rd party(lunatics) app. However the errors appear to be failing on your GPU which makes me wonder if you don't have the latest linux drivers for it. ![]() In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. I checked the exit status of these errors and there are indeed a few 11's. The majority seems to come from my other (WinXP) box where I updated the Boinc client and forgot the firewall to tell about it. I will keep an eye on the status 11 errors the coming days. |

I have been searching for cuda-enabled Boinc programs, but to my best knowledge, I didn't install any. I was under the impression I needed my video driver to support cuda first, and only then would I be able to use a cuda-enabled Boinc program. Is that so or can you use cuda for Boinc without a cuda video driver? I think I have found a driver, but I need to install that one in a terminal without X running, and I haven't had the time to do that yet. |
