It is now possible to rate the forum entries. See below or up :-). WARR - Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Raketentechnik und Raumfahrt (WARR - scientific working group for rocket technology and space travel) |

Voting for one self is because people sometimes make doubleposts etc so this way they can signal what they think about their own posts. |

Janus, Sorry for the off topic post, but I don't have your email address. Did I read somewhere that you are looking for mirror sites for the BOINC download network? I have a whole load of server space and bandwidth available if you need it. You can find my email by pressing the copyright link at the bottom of a page on BOINC.dk And more on topic: The system should be fully functional now. Please be wise when you rate posts and have a look at what rating a post already has before rating it. This feature wont be much worth if people dont use it wisely... |

+/- rating is great! I see it's already being used. It'll probably drop me down to -INF before I ever know it! ;-D What do the yellow pages mean in the upper left-hand corner? Also, is it possible to send the nickname of the respondent in the emails for forum subscriptions? And finally, is it possible to ask a user for the language(s) used in a post? This is getting better and better all the time... Keep it up! :-) |

Janus, Also: "ID: 42272 / Rating: -9.9920072216264E-15 - rate: + / -" Maybe the ratings should be allocated with an integer value? |

Nah, it should be rounded when output. Noted. The database does not store the number you see on your screen, it stores 2 numbers (average and vote-count) and multiplies them to get the actual rating. > Also: Sometimes I've been able to vote twice in the same post using a > different window. Is the info being stored locally in a cookie or on Boincs > site? Votes are stored on the server (only secure thing to do). If you can somehow vote twice please try to debug and see if you can find out when, how, and why it happens - or at least give me something solid to search for. > Also, is it possible to send the nickname of the respondent in > the emails for forum subscriptions? Noted > And finally, is it possible to ask a user for the language(s) > used in a post? To be honest, I think not. This would force users to always select what language they use in a particular post - which would make posting more timeconsuming... Im afraid you will have to stick with the current system in this regard. |

Is it possible, when displaying the message board threads in browser, to let the page name contain also the thread name (e.g. "something .... comments @ new forum features?" for this thread) instead of common "SETI@home: Message boards" only? Peter |

Hey Janus, the feature where the page bounces you to the newest entry is really cool, but there is one annoying quirk. On long messages (such as this one) the page takes a while to load, and the bounce doesn't happen until the page is fully loaded, including graphics and everything. What ends up happening is after waiting a minute for the bounce to happen, I just start scrolling down and reading the thread, then the bounce happens and I'm suddenly somewhere else. Is there a way to make the bounce happen BEFORE everything is loaded? |

If the code told the browser to jump before it had everything loaded the loading images would cause the page to appear to scroll upwards while the last images get loaded. This is why the jump-script only jumps when all images etc has been loaded. Later on there will be a feature that cuts large threads into pages - this will reduce the amount of images that need to be loaded, and thus reduce the amount of waiting time for the jump to occour... |
