I was using 6.6.20 for a bit, under Win2008 Server SP2 x64, and did have both my 260 and 250 cards doing units. This is on a P45 board. Now that I upgraded to the available (non-Beta) 6.6.28, BOINC is only recognizing the 250, and seems to recognize the 260 as a 250, but does not use it. I have the latest NVidia driver, 185.85. Also, somewhat related, when I had a PCI graphic card (non-CUDA) as the main controller, the second PCI-E card, the 250, would not get recognized, this in 6.6.20. When the PCI graphic card was a 8400, it and the 260 were recoginized and used under 6.6.20. Any ideas? Thanks. |

use a cc_config.xml with this option: <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> Claggy |

I updated to 6.6.28 this morning and Boinc is no longer using/recognizing my GeForce 8600GT with 185.85 drivers. It worked fine under 6.6.20. I tried putting in a cc_config.xml per other recommendations and it changed nothing. I went back to 6.6.20 and it it working as it was previously, using both the main CPU and the GPU. I'm sure it's a configuration problem somewhere, but the cc_config.xml file in the Boinc data file in the application data folder (XP Pro, SP3) didn't work. |

Thanks for the tip, Claggy. The new flag available to BOINC as of 6.6.25 (per the BOINC client config wiki) did help a bit. Now instead of showing the 260 running as a 250, and only the 250 specs, I see the 260 running as a 260 (compute capability 1.3). But the 250 (compute capability 1.1) is still MIA. |

This may or may not be imaginings...When running mixed class gpu in one box ie. 9800gtx+260. I have to install the drivers sucessfully once for each card getting to the reboot message WITH a reboot between to get all cards recognized by boinc. Despice them all being displayed as working by windows after the first install. Also, I had to extend my desktop to the unused cards to make them work with 185.85 and 6.6.28 boinc. Yes, I did notice I had to reboot the machine after installing any new CUDA device, after Windows loaded and saw the device successfully, to allow BOINC to start using it. I do not want Windows to use the CUDA devices though and that is why I have a PCI 6200 card as the main video card in the system right now along with the 260 and 250. No Nvidia spanning for me, to make sure the CUDA devices are never used by Windows for display purposes, maybe something I will have to live, but 6.6.20 did recognize both the 260 and 250 ok. (I have been swapping PCI cards in and out, had an 8400 in previously.) After playing with NTune a bit, to see that the 260 and 250 are PhysX capable, the next reboot had BOINC only seeing/using the 250 !! So I went back to NTune and made sure the 260 was selected for PhysX and now the 260 is being used. Could 6.6.28 be looking at NVidia console (NTune) setups to see what card(s) to use?? |

Running 6.6.28 with an 9600 GT KO and no problems. Was running that with an older set of Nvidia drives, then updated to the new set, still running perfect. |

Is it set not to run while computer is in use? I believe this is the new default option so that users do not get lag when using their PC with CUDA. |

OOPs...found the option on the Preferences page to use GPUs and they now work fine. Sorry for the false alarm... :-( |

No worries ;)..many of us struggled with that, each in their our own time. lol "The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not Eureka! (I found it!) but rather, 'hmm... that's funny...'" -- Isaac Asimov |

Turns out I don't need that cc_config file that I'd asked about earlier, As Boinc 6.6.28 doesn't seem to need It in My setup. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I still have no answer. Anyone else besides DPC and me seeing only one card (in a multi-CUDA-card setup) running since upgrading to 6.6.28 besides DPC? I may go back to 6.6.20 and/or post this to the Number Crunching forum shortly if nobody has an answer. Thanks. |

Well, 6.31 and 6.36 did not fix the issue. 6.20 did show the two cards (on one line in the message list, newer BOINC versions are showing two separate lines with the VGA Dummy adapters). I had to go to Radio Shack buy some parts and break out my 25 year old soldering iron to build two VGA Dummy adapters and span the display to the two dummied cards (along with my live 6200) to get them to work. Multiple Windows reboots had to be done to get the 'Personalize/Display Settings' to get the proper ports to be picked that actually had the dummy adapters on them. Funny/bad thing is that BOINC is showing the system having 2 250's instead of the 260+250, and my computer list on the BOINC server is reporting my machine having 2 260s !! |
