CUDA 2.2 is built into the latest Nvidia graphics drivers release which also contain numerous bugfixes and performance enhancements for various games. You can read about those in the release notes on Nvidia's driver download page. Should work quite well for you. I can tell you 185.85 works fine on Frontlines and I'm going to find out soon how it works with Cryostasis. |

I have installed drivers 185.85 and S@H still reports: CUDA device: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 18585, CUDA version 1.1, 512MB, 89GFLOPS) What am I doing wrong? |

The "compute capability" (former CUDA version) is what your GPU can do. Adding better drivers won't increase your compute capability. If you have a DirectX 7 videocard, installing DirectX 9.0c won't make that card Dx 9 compliant all of a sudden. It will only use (changes in) the Dx 7 part of DirectX 9. The same happens to CUDA. Your GPU is capable of using a hardware maximum, the so-called compute capability. Installing better drivers won't make the GPU use all the options, only those that are still used by your GPU. To be able to use all of the changes in the new CUDA, you would need a new videocard. But none that are fully CUDA 2.2 compliant are available yet. Which doesn't say that you shouldn't update to the latest version. There will be fixes in the whole range of CUDA computing capability included in these drivers. |

On the 2.2 dll files, I've tried them and I don't like them, the 2 files just lock My PC up first for short periods of time and then longer periods before a good hard lock, So I won't use them anymore. My card says 1.3 cuda in 6.6.20 or 6.6.28 of Boinc. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I read somewhere that instaling CUDA 2.2 drivers solves very poor graphic performance on computers runing S@H CUDA. Is this right or do I have to stick with suspending GPU work during acticity? |

I read somewhere that instaling CUDA 2.2 drivers solves very poor graphic performance on computers runing S@H CUDA. Is this right or do I have to stick with suspending GPU work during acticity? Try it - it's a worthwhile upgrade in any event. Yes, my subjective experience was that the graphics displayed better after installing 2.2, but that may have been because of the driver update to 185.85 (required for 2.2 to work). But 2.2 doesn't solve the graphics lag on the really bad tasks - the VLARs. You'll want to suspend if you happen to catch one of those while you're doing other work. |
