Hi all, I'm considering putting a new rig together. If I put in 2 or 3 of the new GTX295 cards, will there be enough work to keep them busy 24/7 if they run on a penryn quad system (400WU/day), or will I need to go with a core i7 (800WU/day) to keep them busy? What do you tink? /Anton |

Even if the tasks take as long as my gtx 260 core 216 and you only have 2 cards you would get through ~575 a day minimum. As for a maximum? ~2468 wu's. Yikes! (minimum is using long wu's and only 2 cards (4 processing chips) and the max is the 14 credit wu's with 3 cards (6 processing chips) ) This is of course assuming no errors/delays/downtime... So in other words it doesn't matter which way you turn you still wont keep them fed.. hmm, yeah thats about what I thought...3 cards is out of the equation as yet then...And a core i7 it is. I'll just have to make sure the 10 day cache is fully stocked :) Thanks.. |

I'll just have to make sure the 10 day cache is fully stocked :) 10 day caches hardly get filled with SETI. Having 7 day deadlines, BOINC assumes your work will sit in cache for 10, thus potentially missing its deadline. 3 or 4 day caches work much better with SETI. |

Yeah, I usually keep a 4.5 day cache...Have I just dreamt this or wasn't there at one point differend deadlines on different ARs? Would be great (in this case) to only get units with longer cruch times.. |
