First of all, I am on a laptop that has an AMD cpu and a GeForce 8400M G gpu. This gpu is under the list of compatible gpu's that have CUDA and it has 256mb of video ram. I updated the video card driver from the Nvidia website and am running Boinc 6.4.5. CUDA is seen in Boinc upon startup. What's the problem? Although I don't think using CUDA will be faster, I still want to see for myself. Any help is appreciated! |

I'll have to check that, but from my understanding, this is not an integrated GPU. |

From what I'm seeing here it looks like it should have a max capability of 256. If it does, you'll have to change it in the bios if possible. Even if it is, it's still going to be a slow gpu and in the end you may decide it's not worth the time. |

Do know that the Seti CUDA application uses at minimum 200MB of Video RAM per task. That's why the minimum of 256Mb is put in place. When you do want to use it, make absolutely sure that while you use the laptop, not much else will be using the videochip's RAM. Anything 3D is out. 2D usually uses between 2 and 10MB. If you want to play a game, do CAD/CAM or look something up in Google Earth, make sure to exit BOINC first. |

I checked the spec of my PC through several sources, including the manufacturer, and it turns out it only has 128mb. The card itself can have UP TO 256mb, that's why the Nvidia site says 256mb. Thanks for everyone's help! |
