Hi there, I just set up this machine some days ago and began crunching for SETI. I registered with SETI using the BOINC Account Manager (BAM!) from Boincstats. I'm not all too much after the credits (although it's nice to have at least a form of abstract reward), but I feel they help me evaluate the process of my humble efforts more conveniently then always logging into my account here. I've got 44 credits granted, some more pending, but still the BOINC manager doesn't seem to recognize them. Is there a lag between SETI@home and Boincstats.com or did I make a mistake somewhere during the "configuration" (I only klicked two or three buttons..;))? I already successfully synched with BONCstats Bam! several times, but I still don't get any feedback on my completed tasks with granted credits. So... what's the deal? |

I don't know much about BAM! since I do not use it, but I do know that most stat sites such as BOINCStats.com download the latest data XML from SETI once a day. If they scrape too often, this creates too much load on the SETI servers, so it is not done in real time. |

... If you want to see your SETI credits in BOINC Manager, you have to sync with SETI, not with BAM! To do so, just click the Update button on the Projects tab of BOINC Manager. However, you don't need to do that, because BOINC will report uploaded tasks on its own after some time. For more information on this topic, see this FAQ. Hello again, and thanks for your input. I think I figured out what happened to the credit display in the BOINC manager. Apparently my first WUs were still pending when I opened this thread, meaning there was only one WU already credited by SETI. Since the WU which was credited first was (at the time I opened this thread) the latest one uploaded by my machine, the SETI@home servers already knew about it, while the BOINCmanager didn't get the most recent credit standing from the servers. It was therefore a combination of slow validation of my very first results combined with the slow updating of the BOINCmanager which led to this "lag" in displayed credit. To rid the whole thing of excuses: I was impatient. Sorry for that, and thanks for your time. I hope I made clear what happened, I think you should know. The BOINCmanager now displays a credit standing, I don't mind if it's some hours or even a day late; I only wanted to know if it will display anything at all. |

Hello again, and thanks for your input. You should know that it will often be quite a bit later than "a day late" because of the pending credits which will remain pending until the other computer to which the WU was sent returns a "matching" result. If that other computer does not return any result within something like 2-3 weeks, or if it returns a result that does not line up with yours, then the WU will be sent out to another computer which will then have some new deadline for returning a result. And so on it goes... To the novice: Does that help you to make any sense of things? To the "experts": Did I explain this correctly? |
