I have been having problems with my PowerMac G5. I am running BOINC on both this G5 and a new Mac Intel machine. When I initially set these computers up with BOINC they seemed to run equally well with the Intel Machine completing tasks a bit faster than the G5. Now however my PMG5 is running dog slow. I checked the seti@home forum last night and downloaded seti_enhanced-ppc-v8-g5-nographics but I have not been able to find installation instructions. I think that the files should be inserted into a Slot in the BOINC folder but I would like to know if other files should be removed first. I have a total of 6 slot folders for setiathome_6.03_powerpc-apple-darwin. Any assistance will be appreciated. Also, in the context of seti@home how is BOINC pronounced? Is it like in a Batman comic when someone is hit over the head with a weapon of some sort or some other way? |

They do not go into the slots folder, you put them into the HD/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder. You will also need to change a few line on the app_info file to keep from losing some of your work. If you want, I have made a package of all the files needed for the install with updated app_info.xml file. It has both the Optimized app and the Astropulse app along with the needed files. Available here Just drop all the files into HD/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu ![]() |

Arkayn: Thank you. I have downloaded your files and expect I can take it from here. Chris |
