Well, that's interesting. I fit three of the six labels. They weren't labels, they were identities... And if you do your research, each group is big and has a lot to lose... And by a lot to lose, I mean enough to kill for... Underfunded retirement, counter-terrorism jobs, zionism (dare I say it?), and of course, the long awaited 'woman in power'... And that's no gimmick... ;) (Is someone gonna mention her OIL experience? Yep, there's that word again, OIL.) "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", might apply here... It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

The Associated Press has reported on recorded statements made by Governor Sarah Palin at the Wasilla Assemby of God church in Wasilla, Alaska. Governor Palin makes an appeal for prayer about troops in Iraq declaring, “Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God, that’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God’s plan.†I sincerely hope the Lord isn't offended by the statement that the United States' inept planning for the Iraq War was His doing..... Governor Palin also made an appeal for students to pray for the implementation of a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state. Join the PACK! |

http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card 5 mins 43 seconds That was hysterical and it's precisely the reason I don't watch cable news (CNN can be okay, though...plus it's available in HD here) :D As for whether Palin is a gimmick or not - they certainly are trying to make it appear that she is more popular with ex-Hillary supporters than I believe she really is. She's so darn conservative I can't see how any moderate Clinton fan would want to vote for her ticket. I dunno about the rest of the country, but I don't vote for someone simply because they have fallopian tubes. (best anatomical name EVER, by the way) |

http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card 5 mins 43 seconds One of the news channels were doing the dreaded "Man on the Street" interviews. One woman, who identified herself as a Democrat, said "I think I'm going to vote for McCain. I really like Sarah Palin. She has chutzpah!" Then the reporter asked her if she knew anything about Governor Palin's views. "No." she said. Unfortunately, many Americans devote more time and effort choosing carpet than their next national leaders. Join the PACK! |

Yea. This always worries me. People grabbing a title and voting for that person ... oh my a woman I am voting for her, or oh my a black person I am voting for him ... or the other way around on both of those. Or in McCain's case oh my a veteran he is my man. Without knowing anything else about them. http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card 5 mins 43 seconds I usually don't comment on American politics because I am as far away from the common American voter as I possibly can be. But yes, that was my thought as well, that it was a very clever move by McCain to choose Sarah Palin as his vice President candidate, that a lot of people who else would have voted for Obama will vote for him because they can't vote for Hillary Clinton. That things from her family now have turned out to be issues that may make people not vote for them, well, maybe he hasn't done his homework well enough? I don't know. We will see. So we will see how much influence her daughter's pregnancy and son's drug addiction will have on the American voter's decision on the day of election. I think Obama would have been much better off if he had chosen Clinton as his vice President candidate, then they could have turned out to be a strong team. I don't know which issues he may have with her, which made him chose otherwise. Again, I am not much into American politics and it's quirk, personal likes and dislikes... Bill Clinton wouldn't be "back" in the White House, he would be the spouse of the Vice President, nothing more. Just as, whats-her-name-oh-yes, Tipper Gore was "in" the White House, or any other of the spouses to the Vice Presidents. And I think we can agree on, unless there are facts that haven't been leaked to the foreign press, that spouses to the Vice Presidents are about some of the most uninteresting and un-influential people in the US of A. I remember Tipper well, she had some pretty, well, "interesting" ideas and pet pews, but luckily she never got away with any of her intentions! So much for being "in" the White House.
