Today the Astropulse application was launched in the main project. I have build applications for FreeBSD i386, MacOS PPC 10.4.x/10.5.x and MacOS Intel 10.5.x and put them on my homepage for public use. Some more would be follow soon. |

Can you please inform me how to install this latest edition, since the installer does not work on a Intel Dual G5, even though that is the .zip I downloaded.? Thank You. |

Sorry, the package has no automatic installer in the moment. So there some manual install steps needed. Evetually I can write a little shell or automator script which installs the application automaticly. A double click on the package would open a new folder with the contents. In the install.astropulse are the install step described. |

Binaries for MacOS 10.4x and 10.5.x on Intel, NetBSD i386 and OpenBSD i386 are now also available. |

Followed the instructions and copied everything to the proper directory. When trying the chown boinc_master:boinc_project /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/* command in Terminal it returned... Macintosh:~ john$ chown boinc_master:boinc_project /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/* chown: /Library/Application: No such file or directory chown: Support/BOINC: No such file or directory chown: Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/*: No such file or directory Appears it doesn't like the spaces in that command. I'm using the PPC version for a Dual G5. Restarted BOINC and updated the project anyway, but I'm still not getting anything. Thoughts? Thanks. John |

You need to add a few of these --> ' \ ' ... ;) Thank you very much. It was my (cut'n'paste) failure. I've corrected the install docs. |

chown boinc_master:boinc_project /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/* Thanks very much, Jeffrey. Knew it was something like that, but couldn't remember the syntax (age-related?). :-) I let it run all night as it was. This morning it started picking up some units to work on, but just a very few (my PC here has over 20 in the queue!). It just ran out of the tasks it got and is back to getting none again... Sun Aug 3 08:21:05 2008|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 57504 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks Sun Aug 3 08:21:10 2008|SETI@home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks BTW, I ran the command you posted and got... chown: /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/08jn08aa.10332.12342.8.8.234_1_0: Operation not permitted Further thoughts? Thanks. John |

eventualy a "sudo chown: /Library/Application\ Support/BOINC\ Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/" would help. - But it also easly posible to do this action with the finder by selecting the directory, press APPLE+I and change the owner and the group. There is a server problem going on in the moment. I got a astropulse WU some hours ago. But my other system did not get any WUs... |

It took that command (I added a '*' at the end of the string). I had also tried the Finder route, but couldn't find owner and group info - just Sharing & Permissions. There it has boinc_master listed twice, both as Read & Write. Thanks. John |

Yes, this could also be. It's OK. If you start the BOINC client again and there is an permition error the BOINC client would show this... |

chown: [path snip] 08jn08aa.10332.12342.8.8.234_1_0: Operation not permitted 08jn08aa.10332.12342.8.8.234_1 is a work unit... the trailing '_0' means that seti is currently crunching that work unit... I would guess that the operation wasn't permitted because the file was in use... ;) (FYI - In the get info box: owner = 1 head, group = 2 heads, everyone = 3 heads.) Thanks. No errors when I restarted, so - if I could get some WU (both Mac and PC at home are now empty) - all is apparently well. John |

Got it. Thanks. As for the 'heads' - now I got that, too. For /projects/, Owner and Group are both RW, Everyone is R. John |

I got the new SAH 6.03 several weeks ago but I still haven't seen any astropulse work uints. Is there something I am missing? There is no official Astropulse app for Mac. You need to download and install it manually. Get it here. You just need to find the correct version for your Mac. If you wan't to use the SETI 6.03 and the Astropulse application you need to customize the app_info.xml : <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>setiathome_6.03_i686-apple-darwin</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>seti_graphics_6.03_i686-apple-darwin</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>603</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome_6.03_i686-apple-darwin</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_graphics_6.03_i686-apple-darwin</file_name> <open_name>graphics_app</open_name> </file_ref> </app_version> <app> <name>astropulse</name> </app> <file_info> <name>astropulse_4.35_i686-apple-darwin</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>astropulse</app_name> <version_num>435</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>astropulse_4.35_i686-apple-darwin</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> |

Sounds like too much work to me. I think I will wait for berkeley to come out with the offical version. No, the install is quite easy. The instructions are included in the Astropulse package... - You need to stop the BOINC client - copy the files from the package into /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/ with the finder. - after this edit the file app_info.xml and cut'n' past the contents of the app_info.xml, which I have posted in the last posting, into the app_info.xml of the projects folder. - Start the BOINC client again. |

Sounds like too much work to me. I think I will wait for berkeley to come out with the offical version. The instructions also say the ap doesn't support graphics. I like the graphics, it the main reason I run SAH. I will wait for the graphic version. Thanks anyway. |
