You don't need to update your software, just click the update button on the manager task page. Make that the projects page. ![]() |

running Mac dual 500mhz tower You didn't read what's here before you posted, Walt. :-) Yeah, I know - it's a lot! Specifically, take a look at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=48227#785929. Worked for me, and a lot of others here. John |

I had actually read most of the thread. ForumModerator, OzzieFan states: Message 785541 - Posted 22 Jul 2008 23:43:23 UTC and a few posts later: Message 786661 - Posted 25 Jul 2008 1:13:32 UTC - in response to Message ID 786639. So, I am willing to bet the problem is a server issue again, not the client. However it appears that the "optimised client" may work around the problem, but it doesn't fix the issue for the masses. I am willing to bet a large number of people do not even check the forums or the status of their client. It just runs in the background for weeks/months/years at a time. If this is related to a server issue, seti@home will miss the processing from the "run boinc and forget about it" crowd. |

If this is related to a server issue, seti@home will miss the processing from the "run boinc and forget about it" crowd. I completely agree with that. I check my systems every day just to make sure all is well. As to the optimized version, it's still running fine here, even though the server problem seems to be back. Unfortunately, I'm not happy with the slow recovery of my RAC, but at least it's running. John |

If this is related to a server issue, seti@home will miss the processing from the "run boinc and forget about it" crowd. My RAC seems to be growing nicely. From around 2600 it dropped to 1800 with this problem and now stands at 2940. :) ![]() |

My RAC seems to be growing nicely. From around 2600 it dropped to 1800 with this problem and now stands at 2940. :) Mine is still going down. It was >3,600 less than a month ago, hit <2,500 2 weeks after that when the problems started, went back up to >3,100 after the server fix, and now is on the way down again - more server problems... Seems like server problem again today. I am not getting any new work, keeps hanging up on Scheduler request pending.... and I have upgraded to the optimized version (which 'fixed' last weeks problems) since the last server issue. |

Same here. No new tasks since yesterday. I installed the "seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics" - see above in this thread. I'm running on XServes so that seems to be right version here. After running the installer to set ownership and filerights correctly then like magic the servers started to respond again. However, this seems to be the wrong method of fixing whatever problem we currently experience. If nothing has changed on the clients and suddenly the servers starts to responds erratic or stop responding at all then the servers are to be looked at. I fully understand that 'fixing' may take sometime du to the DIYness of SETI. I afraid that most users simply wait for the problem to be fixed at the serverside, we'll simply see less compuation for awhile. /Per |
