I just downloaded Boinc 6.1.10 and even though I have set preferences to use only 4 cores of my dual quad core Mac, it is using all 8.

You should report that on the BOINC boards, not here: for one thing, that’s an alpha test version, and for another, you won’t find any BOINC devs (or vice versa) in this forum.
