Hi there, fellow SETI crunchers....!
On solar energy efficiency I would suggest to have a look at Mr. Steven Chu´s lecture by checking the videoclip at 25:38. It is interesting to know that all the actual needs of the US could be satisfied by solar energy using a limited area of soil (for example in the Nevada desert) where a much less harm would be caused to the environment and increasing pollution would be stopped.
Now only political will is needed!
