Under OS X 10.4 Boinc would automatically launch with a nice CPU priority. TTBOMK it no longer does this under 10.5(leopard). I understand that I can set Boinc to use a maximum percentage of the CPU, but feel that running as a low priority nice process would work better than this for all reasons. Is there anyway to make Boinc nice again? |

Is there anyway to make Boinc nice again? I'm using Panther and the boinc app doesn't run 'nice'... However, the science app runs at 'nice 19'... Boinc and Boinc Manager usually just sit idle most of the time... Is this not so in Leopard? ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Indeed, on my iBook running 10.4.9 all seti clients render as Nice processes (according to Activity Monitor). On the other hand, on my MacBook running 10.5.1 SETI renders as a User process. Something smells bad here, although I am not sure if it's the client or BOINC manager. That said, I've been experiencing unresponsiveness from BOINC manager every time a WU finishes, or almost every time there is some BOINC-related network activity... |

Yes, I have the same problem with 10.5.2 (and also had it on 10.5.1 and 10.5.0). The processes that BOINC launched are indeed no longer "nice". |
