On the eve of this national holiday, I want to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for as Americans and we should remember that it is the sacrifice and hard work of those who came before us that has enabled our liberty and freedom today. You, the men and woman of the US NAVY, are building upon and are continuing these great traditions.

I know that this time of the year can be particularly difficult for all those deployed or underway and for the families who cannot be with them. There are so many who are neither anchored nor moored. Please take a moment this holiday season to remember those who are far from home and their families. Thank them for their dedication, commitment and service. For those of you who are deployed, we thank you for your sacrifice. Your hard work is vital to our mission and to our great nation.
