...as a background image in the screensaver? I've tried several different jpg files with accurate urls, small in size, and nothing seems to work.

Does this feature actually work or is this a bug? Thanks.

I have found that screensaver preferences only update when you restart the application to which the preferences apply. The easiest way to do this is to quit BOINC and restart it.
