Hiya all,

sorry if this is not the place but since it seems an active forum, here goes.......

Still having same problems with S@H file downloads or at least their signature or checksum, here follows the error messages:

15/03/2007 12:01:23|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file 23no04ab.6543.14256.778410.3.196

BTW have got 5.8.15, but this issue has occurred since doing a clean Windows install and first happened on 5.4.11 and have downloaded 5.8.11 and whatever the previous version to that..... all of this on the same machine which successfully ran S@H and is running Rosetta OK
I am running XP Pro SP2 Sempron 2800+, Gigabyte K8 Triton M/B 1GB RAM, 40 or more GB available on 2 physical discs....... I am also using CA Internet Security software, although it doesn't seem to be interfering, although I will go look closely at its log files. { Have looked, can't see anything relating to S@H being interfered with ( see checksum forum under Q & A Windows platform, where I originally posted this issue, but it seems to have evoked no response )}

Help please,

Regards,

Tim

Hiya all,

sorry if this is not the place but since it seems an active forum, here goes.......

Go to "your account", "general preferences" and change the last line to "Yes". The general pref is named:

Skip image file verification?
Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example).
Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC.

Hi, It has been a couple of years since I've been doing this, the company I worked for down-sized, (I was down-sized) and I would like my old information moved over to my new profile. How do I do this since my old e-mail address doesn't exist any more?

I'd like to have my 24K + hours accredited to my new account.

I would like you to know and consider, that I'm a great german freak in believin' that we're not alone in universe !!!
My computers worked for SETI several years but I've had a PC- & internet-crash for a year or so, so that now my adress has changed.

I would be glad if my old worktime (many hours & tasks) could be added to the new "credits"!

Old or new (don't know yet which is the new):

"bgramzow@web.de" respectively "bgramzow@aol.com"

Some time ago I got a mail from your team, thanking for my work,
thanks therefore !!!

I WISH US SUCCESS IN OUR SEARCH !!!

something for those with brains might listen to this or maybe not. I am probley not even posting in the right area for this but I think this is something for all to listen to and comprehend. My name is Larry M. Dudley and I retain a high enough of an IQ to place this statement.

If I am correct the whole objective of SETI is to search for other life forms out side of our system, right?

Well if that is the case then why in the hell arent you looking for brain wave patterns instead of stupid radio or light communications. If we have the know how to read brain wave paterns here on our own planet then why arent you useing your systems to search for brain waves instead of radio or light waves.

It has taken me a few years just to find a place to really say what I feel and what to look for. So maybe someone here will look at what I am saying. I am even watching a show right now on channel 33 "Discovery Channel" About a monkey that is being controled by remote systems but albeit they are reading the brain paterns and altering them, I cant see why in the hell can they do that and you guys cant figure out how to look for the real intelligence seed. Which is the "Brains" of every living being and thing there is. Stop looking for something you might never find and start looking for something you can find. like real raw inteligence or even nerve impulses. And please dont tell me it cant be done my wife is a Medical Assistant and I damn sure know what equipment is being used to read waves of the heart, mind, body and damn near a soul. If they can read those things then patch your systems into what they are doing for long range scans.

I will never post here again most likely at all. But what I am doing is telling you what you need to look for instead of looking for something "artificial" look for "Real brains" that are thinking or even just responding to an environment they might be living in. Here on earth we have millions of life forms to base a search on and a range of waves to base our search on for inteligent to non-intelligent life forms. just find the range of what waves the brains work with and use that as a basis of a serch out there for what your looking for.

I am tired of waiting for result in a search that is ineffective. Use one that will find you a result. All the speculations and papers on theorys of other intellegences that might be out there is there just look for the damn thing using brain waves and thier paterns.

I am sorry if this is harsh but I am tired of people thinking that someone who isnt in some damn collage with some damn high degree has to be the one to know something that is worth listening to and maybe trying it and finding it just might work.

As far a others being out there, hell they are here in a way you wont ever understand till you understand the brain and how it works.

I hope someone with a brain can understand what I have said and not take it in the wrong way but use it and work with it and I will bet everything about my life on what I have said. that someone will find what it is I am saying. Just don't hide it from the public when you do. I dont care who takes credit for this concept of mine just use it.

Every living thing on this planet has a frquency and there has to be a high and low range for this and that should be your basis of living life else where. SCAN for it.

Well as soon as you figure out how to make a brain wave detector that works at the range of a million light years I'm sure it will be put to good use. Those monkeys probably have electrodes and sensors implanted inside of their skulls, in direct contact with their brain tissue. Any detectable EM emissions put out by the brain are far too weak to be detected at any kind of distance. Sorry but you just can't detect a signal that is weaker than the background noise of the universe.

Hi Eric,
I have watched these message boards for the last fue months now and it seems that the most commonly asked questions by NEW people to seti@home are:

Where can i see the results ?

Where can i see the science behind whats going on ?

Has seti@home ever found anything ?

Where is the News ???????

It seems to me that reguardless of what other information this website has, it badly needs News updates. And some science updates. New people coming here want to know what is happening to the results that they are sending back. They want to know what radio signals we are looking at and where in the sky they are comming from. The last science newsletter posted in the science newsletter section was in August 2006. What has happened since then ?

I have personally read all the information that is avalable from the science links on the front page of this website. There needs to be a page with ALL this stuff on it. With links giving more information on each topic.

What is there at the moment is not enough. I know that we may or may not ever be able to say we have found the WOW signal but at least seti@home can tell the people what good work is being done !

Eric, i know that you could do with about 20 pairs of hands and there is never enough time, but i think this is important. I dont know that this staff blog can provide what i am talking about.

My name is Chris, I am a believer in other life out in our vast Heavens. Anyway I am new to this, I will do my part and search for life we all know exist. If you think about it for every star we see, There is a solar system like any other, the conditions would be right for life as on earth, Lifeforms would probably look very close to us, As water is the begining of all Life. A Planet just far away from its sun as ours, Perfect conditions for life, Anyway not to bore you, I think the signal is comming SEDI just needs our help...

Welcome to Seti

The Staff Blog and Tech News are now providing more information than has been seen in years... The Staff is working to let "Us" know as much as they can!

Your Quote is all fine and good, if you look at the hardware donations page you will see that three severs are needed... Thove machines have the horsepower to start doing the Real Time Persistency checking that is the next step...

Many Users have donated hardware that has gotten "Us (the Seti Community)"through some of the hardware issues. That work is still finishing up... Many Users have Donated Money that has bought a small reprieve to keeping Seti Alive...

So at this point "We" all are being as patient as we can...

Please take a bit of time to read the Forums...

Огорченно, я не говорю никакого русского (за немного слов), и машинный перевод вашего столба не был очень хорош. Но если вы смотрите для русских помощи или обсуждения, то вы могли судить за команда BOINC SETI@home Russia.

Sorry, I don’t speak any Russian (beyond a few words), and a machine translation of your post wasn’t very good. [edit: The translation above is probably terrible Russian, too.] But if you’re looking for Russian-language help or discussion you might try the BOINC SETI@home Russia team’s website.
