Screensavers are supplied by the projects. The Boinc default screensaver is shown when you are crunching a WU from a project that doesn't have a screensaver or Boinc is not crunching. I believe this may also occurs if the Boinc manager is not connected to the localhost (see bottom right of Boinc manager) - not sure about this part. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |

It does this also, if installed as a Service, I believe. ![]() My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

It seems that if you have it installed as a service there's more that you need to do for the graphics to work. I found this page to do it for me: http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Enabling_The_Graphics_Capability_of_the_BOINC_Client_Software_for_a_Service_Type_Installation |

I have the same "problem" The show graphics button is greyed out. BOINC is not installed as a service, and is connected to local host. The graphics used to work, but stopped a couple of weeks ago. Around the same time, I installed Simon Zadra's optimised app, which has doubled my rig's crunching speed. I can't tell if the optimised app has caused the change. ![]() |

The optimized applications don't have links to the graphics libraries. That's one of the things why they are so quick. This is widely documented. |

I do use the BOINC Wiiki, but I seem to have trouble finding what I need, and some stuff I just don't understand. I'll get used to it sometime I suppose. Meanwhile, no graphics is a small price to pay for achieving more crunching for the project. :) Having no graphics would certainly leave extra processing power for crunching, and Simon's app doesn't seem to "cheat" by claiming falsely for credit, as previous app's have been accused of. ![]() |
