Does anybody know if the WU's being sent out for BOINC Seti participants are also sent out on the classic site? I noticed the last WU's I recieved were from September last year and I suspect these have already been crunched over on the classic site. |

They all come from the same tapes from same antenna. |

So although the Wu's are crunched 3 times under Boinc for verification purposes it is very likely that they have already been crunched on the classic system (possibly up to 10 times?) especially as Boinc is down for considerably more time than its up. I'm struggling to see the point! |

OK, let me try to help... One of the reasons for the new S@H application is to do more accurate analyzations of the data as new FFT techniques/resolutions are discovered. BOINC/S@H is processing the WUs differently than the classic application. The BOINC version will also allow for work to be gathered from different telescopes and antennas. Such as the higher resolution equipment used for the Seti re-observations, which as I understand it, are going to now be processed by BOINC/Seti. Whether or not these are what are being worked on now, I can't say. |
