Rom, for those of us using a *nix box, it is very difficult for us to get work. I personally am always being deferred, maybe my pppoe connect can not keep up with those that are using cable connect with a gazillon computers which suck all of the work before the lesser of us can get any. Is it just me or is this the case in general? Did the team ever consider limiting the amount of work units sent out. And an annoying thing with the *nix client is that you do not have the luxury of sitting on "update" or "retry now". Even issuing "update URL" from the Linux client won't get you around the deffered time.. I hope someone doesn't tell me to switch to using windoze, Linux is my OS of choice. Regards and Fedoras off to you and the UCB team |

This isn't a *NIX problem or a connection problem. Everyone is having trouble getting work units with the project being up and down all the time. Also, please keep in mind that when they shut down seti classic and the user load increases on SAH/BOINC, there will not be enough work units for everyone. Seti classic just kept sending out work units over and over after they had already been processed just to keep people happy. BOINC will not do this. For this reason, there are other BOINC projects out there to distribute the distributed projects :) ------------------------------------------- - A member of The Knights Who Say NI!
