Uh... its quoted "SETI.USA was created to consolidate our users and become the number one team in the world. The USA has always been known for rising up and overcoming challenges like this. Join with us. Together we will accomplish something amazing!" This is a global project, not one team trying to be better than another. This is just common American elitism. Who cares who has more credit than who? The fact is that this is global project for anyone who has a computer. This is the world coming together to find life out there. Search for extraterrestrial life. Nowhere in there is it country specific. I think we should worry more about members who want to help a greater good, than members who just want to be the #1 team... think about it. |

Looks like our RAC continues to climb (806,000 and growing). We also broke 1 million combined BOINC credits for the day today (according to BOINCStats). The team is just humming along. Proud member of SETI.USA |

Who cares who has more credit than who? Actually, I do. I find it is a lot more fun to be a credit whore than it is to concentrate only on the science. I like to optimize my computers, raise my RAC as high as possible and have the most credits I can get. I do care about the results and what good things come out of the projects that I participate in, but it is the competition that keeps me involved day in and day out. I joined SETI.USA because they like to compete. In case you didn't notice, we are doing the same science you are, just a hell of a lot more of it. Think about it... To each their own. If you like to compete and like to participate in BOINC, join SETI.USA! Proud member of SETI.USA |

We should probably handle this internally. Thanks!! |

Yeah Mike, I think you are the one who needs to think about it. Competition is healthy and good for the science. Competition pushes people to tweak their systems, optimize their systems and/or buy and upgrade systems. Look at the amount of science that has been done just in the competition between SETI.USA and SETI.Germany!! Each is pushing the other to new heights and it is the science that benefits. |

Join with us. Together we will accomplish something amazing!" Mike I agree with you, we should and do work together - but healthy competition never hurts, in fact it draws in many crunchers who would normally not crunch.. thus the entire reason for credit and teams. It takes all types, those who are in it just for the science and could care less about credit, those that like both, and those that don't care about science and it is all about the credit. However, the credit is worthless, and meaningless without some competition. I like both, the science and the credit, and thrive on competition. It is competition that has brought the human race to where it is today. If humans as a whole were complacent, we would not be even looking into space, instead we would still be banging the rocks. Competition and desire to grow and achieve is one of the things that set us apart from the apes. We have a good relationship with many of the other teams out there, and have been in several friendly challenges with them. It is all good for the science, and also good for moral. Glad to have you a part of the team, why don't you come and join us on our Monday night chats. |

You should be proud, especially on an individual level. Thanks Michael! Even though some do not realize it, we are mostly in this for the science as well. The competition just keeps us going!! :) |

Hey Kevint, was just wondering. When do you leave for Brazil??? I am suppose to be outta here on the 17th - but don't think I am going to make that date - got some real estate deals I am trying to lock up before I take off. - hopefully by the 20th. Then will be gone until the 15th or so of January. Just hope the SETI farm can live without me for a month - :) |
