I'm going to switch over to crunching exclusively for the beta project for a while. There are several reasons for this, but the primary reason is that I'm trying to reduce my electric bill and with my computer on less I don't want to spread myself too thin. My computer barely contributes as it is! I also like the atmosphere over at beta. Furthermore, crunching beta WUs means I won't miss out on either SETI or AstroPulse when it's released for testing. So, I'll be wrapping things up and finishing the WUs I have for the main project. No worries, I'm also a member of this same team's beta version so I'm still crunching away in Dr. Sagan's memory.

Hello all.

I have been a Carl Sagan "follower", if you will, since I was a kid. It's incredible how everything he said or taught I agreed with. ;)

I never really paid much attention to teams, and my current team has 471 members, but I joined a long time ago just to not be team-less
Recently I've been thinking about looking for a team that stood for something, or said something to me, you know. Something I could relate to, and this team could be it, really, but there's just one little detail that sort of bugs me.
Why must the team name contain its founder nickname in it? Come on Byron. :)
Wouldn't it be better if it was called just team Carl Sagan?
Anyway, I can't remember if team names can be changed, since the last and only time I created a team was back in 1999. :p

Regards!
/Mav

Hello there.

KB7RZ said,

Well well well, a team crunching in memory of Carl Sagan.

Carl Sagan is responsible for my interest in science (and particularly astronomy, physics and cosmology), to a large degree for my independence of mind, and to some degree for my decision to discard the rather narrow religious worldview I was born into.

Mostly, Carl Sagan is responsible for my sense of wonder. Watching Cosmos as a boy planted a seed of wonder within me that has stood the test of time. In fact it's hard for me to really describe how pivotal Carl Sagan has been in helping me to see wonder in Nature.

I always thought I'd remain independent of any team, but if there's any team I find worthwhile to join it's this one.

Count me in.

I could not have made a better post myself and so I decided to quote it in support of it's content. Thanks

Count me in to...

Greetings, Abraxas.

Greetings Abraxas. Welcome to the team. The above was not posted by me, and with me just getting off work I am too tired to really see who posted it. We are happy to have you aboard.

Thank you michael. And thank you everyone for joining the team. Its just a team to crunch in memory of Carl Sagan. Nothing special other than that. I think we are up to 64 members now, maybe Byron will be in to do an update, and also update the team page he has set up. :-)

Bump again. Come crunch with us, in memory of Carl Sagan. We've grown to 65 members again. We're not a big group, as you can see from my signature, we've got almost 3.5 million credits that have been crunched for Carl Sagan.
