I'm able to download and process a work unit, but I can't upload the results to the server.

A sampling of the messages I'm getting:

Started upload of 17ja99ab.1966.23681.1003390.1.17_0_0
Couldn't resolve hostname [setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu]
Temporarily failed upload of 17ja99ab.1966.23681.1003390.1.17_0_0: can't resolve hostname

(This goes on all day!)

Okay, resolution of the server name [setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu] failed. Let me try to ping the server:

$ ping setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu
PING setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu (66.28.250.125) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 66.28.250.125: icmp_seq=1 ttl=245 time=246 ms

--- setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu ping statistics ---
1 packet transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 246.918/246.918/246.918/0.000 ms

What's going on? DNS definitely can resolved the name; does the seti client need to be tweeked?

Thanks,

John

Strange. Never seen before...

Did a nslookup setiathome.berkeley.eud and a reverse lookup work.
Are your nsswitch.conf and resolv.conf work ?

Having done and touched absolutely nothing, I tried running the manager again this morning. Take a look at the messages:

Started upload of 17ja99ab.1966.23681.1003390.1.17_0_0

request_reschedule_cpus: files downloaded
Starting result 16au99ab.19802.12546.354830.1.52_2 using setiathome version 402

I have no idea what happened, but everything is working as it's supposed to.

Thanks for the suggestion!
