**Which CPUs do you have in your K-Class ? - Do you have 32 or 64 bit running ? - The 64 bit seti app will be about 20 % faster than the 32 bit one. [/quote] I won't swear to it but i believe the patch bundle that did it was the superseded version of PHSS_30970, there where a number of patches and dependancies that I went through getting this going and I am horrible at keeping track of such things, but there was a kernel rebuilt and I believe thats the one that did it,I did all 4 in the install readme and im pretty sure that was the one that needed a kernel rebuild(that was the fixer),sorry had my eye on the prize not the contest:) My k210 is old pa-risc v1 so 32 bit 120 meghz. It was a bargain and a real enterprise class server (at least in its day) to hack around in unix with.I do adjust the nice on the program to 0 instead of the 19 in top when i start it,that seemed to helped alot. I do have a off topic question for you though, is there a signal or a command I can send to the client that won't trash the results I'm working on? Everytime I have to reboot or change run levels or (hehe crash my system) I trash the 2 seti files that are running, there doesnt seem to be a ./boinc_client -stop,pause,shutdown,save_work,suspend command? Also while im wishing for features how do i get a gui up in a xwindow from my xp-pc:)))I usually run this system from my PC cygwin..xinit..rlogin...gnome-session...and bad me as root, It would be nice to see how its doing like the pc version and I havent had any luck getting any of the 3rd party unix/linux downloads to work yet. |

Strange that you get a SIGBUS... Normal the systems do a SIGSEGV without this patch on the boinc client. This patch are listed in the quick install guide (section 6.2) in /opt/boinc/doc/install, too. I recommend following patches (or newer) for the boinc client on 11.11 (11i V.1) : - PHCO_31903 (libc cumulative patch) - PHKL_32806 (Cumulative VM patch) - PHKL_32647 (Extending Physical I/O Addressing) - PHSS_30970 (ld(1) and linker tools cumulative patch) - PHKL_32204 (VM core(4) related changes) Do you know the itrc (itrc.hp.com) ? - there is a web based tool, which resolves the patchdependencies. - It works really good.
I have looked at your stats, and seen, that the client crashs with a "disk full" error message. If you make enought space free, your results do not crash. Do you make a core in the filesystem, where the boinc client run ? The seti app writes in periodic times the result and state out of the disk, so no big computing time will be lost. But if the disk is full, the seti app can't write... Sorry, I don't understand excatly what you mean. Do you mean a X Server from windows ? - There are some commercial Xservers like Refelection or Exceed. There should also be some free XServers for windows available - sorry don't know any product in the moment - a google search will help you... - I will search, too.... VNC is a little differnent tool, which has it's own implementation. It is also available for HPUX. You need to start the vncserver on HPUX and connect from Windows with the vncviewer to the vncserver. |
