Well, any good reason why we are being kept in the dark regarding the fact no-ones credit have been updated for atleast 2 week (and probably more like a month for some)? Please keep us informed, thats the least you can do. -- Join SIT@HOME, you too can sit there watching that expensive PC sit there doing nothing. Marvel at the fact the room is 5 degrees cooler than when your PC was running SETI@HOME. SIT@HOME -- The new project! |

With all the various problems they have been reporting, I would think your question is moot. The system keeps going down.... Any reason to believe that the validators and whatever else responsible for granting credits also aren't going down? <a> |

What's really annoying is they won't post official news about that. They reads our posts, they know how concerned we are about this but they won't take a minute to keep us informed. Is there anyone stearing the ship ? WHO IS IN CHARGE HERE ???? I say it again WAKE UP SETI !!!!! -.-. --.- -.. -..- . - .-.-. -.- --... ...-- |

Hi All, I recall that it was stated that they were working to get the ALPHA/Beta programs working and the Public project up by Monday. They never made a statement as to bringing the Validators online. I think that "retaining" the inforamtion to send to the validator has been the priority. I think everyone that has tried, has received WU's by now, and most are getting successful hits on the schedualer. I think that this is very promising considering the past failures. I believe that they are making sure that the "Inforamtion " side of the program is working as described before moving to the "Result" side. I think all would agree that this is probably a smart thing. As for past credit, we know that we have lost a significant amount. That is all water under the bridge at this point. With the project just getting back off the ground in the last couple of days, all the "lost" WU's have been recycled and are awaiting validation. I would imagine that if thinks continue to prgress in a positive manner, that we will begin to see credits sometime at the end of this coming week. We have all waited a long time, we just have to give it a little more time to see exactly where we stand. Happy Crunching To All. Keep Your Chins Up. Regards, Rocky And yes I agree, the most annoying part is that we are not informed, whether "Official" or "Unofficial" |

Well, going to the front-page and reading the news, the last posted about then to get credit is: 1; Credit for the backlog of results will start being granted once we move to the Snap Appliance and turn on the hierarchical directory structure. 2; We developed a hierarchical directory structure to get around the big directory problem. (snip) It is being tested in alpha now. Next week it will go to beta and then to public. While "live" has been down the last weeks, so has alpha & beta, so they still haven't had the opportunity to beta-test the new code. Alpha is now up and running again, while beta haven't been up since June... AFAIK they can't start the validation on only new results, but have to wait for the directory structure being implemented. |

It uses the shear brute power of distributed computing to analyze the hundreds of TV channels now available to try and find if there is ANYTHING good on. Positive results sent back to the project are forwarded to another another new DC project called WATCH@HOME whose members computers try to analyze the positive results, organize a schedule and decode the channel symbols in the TV guide. |
