ok heres a really good one ! I have linux ( Ubuntu ) installed on my system, running Boinc and attached to another project ( rosetta ), so I know this is setup correctly cause I can get and send data. However prior to the move seti worked great no hitches. I get this loaded and try to attach to the project and I have to use the acct key, which I have saved, and can use to login here, I tried it to make sure it was still valid. another thing out fo the way, Now when I use the same acct key and the http://setiathome.berkeley.edu link in the same email I get the following garbage
sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded
Message from server: Invalid or missing account key, Visit this project's web site to get an account key
Resetting Project
Request_schedule_cpus: exit_tasks
Detatching from project

anyone have any bright ideas as to why I can use the acct key to login here and not attach to SETI ?

So far I know was there a solution posted in the forums. The search engine will help you....

I think the solution was to login on the seti site with your account key and set a password your your account.
Now try to attach with the account manager within the boinc manager with your email address and your password.

Please re-read what I have said,

I have to use the acct key as the boinc mgr asks for nothing else, I believe I made this clear or I wouldnt be asking this question. The Rosetta account also asks for the account key, seperate acct seperate key, and works fine using it, so once again I ask...... Why will loging on to the seti site with the acct key work but I cannot attach to the SETI project using the same acct key and seti address ?

I remember reading a post on this. What is the version of your boinc manager? Seems to me like it was a version problem. Version 5.2.13 is the newest.

With the newer boinc managers you can attach to the project with the email/password combination or the account key.
