I started running BOINC again recently after a pause of about six months. Since a much newer BOINC client was available (5.2.13) I downloaded that first and untarred it. When I executed the ./run_client command, Seti started running. I got the message that the workunits were very old and I might not get credit. This, coupled with the fact that the seti client was also very old (4.02) made me decide to "reset" the project. That is, I executed ./run_client -reset_project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ Now, here's the problem. Now whenever I execute ./run_client, the only thing that runs is my other project, climateprediction.net. Even if I set the work ratio 10:1 in favour of seti and leave it all night, no seti work begins. So, a couple of questions. Does anyone know what's going on and why I can't do any seti work? And does the seti client version update automatically, or do I have to download that as well as the BOINC client? Finally, in case it helps, I've attached the terminal output displayed after executing the ./run_client command. Thanks in advance! mattias@mollusc:~/usr/BOINC$ ./run_client 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Starting BOINC client version 5.2.13 for i686-pc-linux-gnu 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] libcurl/7.14.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8 zlib/1.2.3 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Data directory: /home/mattias/usr/BOINC 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 244 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Memory: 1011.80 MB physical, 2.53 GB virtual 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Disk: 107.54 GB total, 61.47 GB free 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [SETI@home] Computer ID: 34829; location: ; project prefs: default 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [climateprediction.net] Computer ID: 25776; location: ; project prefs: default 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2005-02-07 11:06:31) 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] General prefs: using your defaults 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Remote control not allowed; using loopback address 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [climateprediction.net] Resuming computation for result 0nws_100051323_1 using hadsm3 version 413 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [climateprediction.net] Resuming computation for result 2ytb_000159827_1 using hadsm3 version 413 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Suspending work fetch because computer is overcommitted. 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [---] Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted. 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [SETI@home] Reason: Requested by user 2006-02-16 09:41:36 [SETI@home] Note: not requesting new work or reporting results Starting model in /home/mattias/usr/BOINC/projects/climateprediction.net... Okay, answering my own question here. Detaching and reattaching didn't work, but what did work was deleting the entire BOINC directory and subdirectories, and then reinstalling BOINC, and reattaching to both climateprediction.net and SETI. I don't know why, but it works now. |
