First time user of the client on a Solaris 9 platform. I have four instances running on two platforms (two instances on each platform) in seperate directories. The *out*txt files all have the following similar messages. Detaching or resetting the project doesn't help. Suggestions?

What do you mean exactly ? - Do you have two boinc clients running at one system ? - This is not good and can cause errrors. There is no need to do this, because boinc has a WU cache which you can configure and the boinc client scheduled the seti app accross the different CPUs, if you have more than one.

I am not shure, of the cause of your download problems...
The servers looks OK.

I had two instances running on two different Solaris (Ultra60) servers.
Each instance was running in its own directory similar to how the classic seti was configured and executed. This results in each directory having its own *.xml files and 'projects' sub-directory, etc.

To address any concerns about possible conflicts from mulitple instances on the same server, all client processes were terminated and only one client was started on one server. The output in *out*txt remains the same where the download of setiathome_4.02_sparc-sun-solaris2.7 starts then temporarily fails, backs off for a period of time then attempts the download again.

Cheers!

Ok, now I am understanding your setup.
Some time ago, the campus at berkeley had some network problems. Not shure, if the problems still exists. But this could be a issue for your problems.
The donwload aborts still on different progresses ?
I have no solution in the moment, but you can retry to download it, and hope to get the binary downloaded. - I have donwloaded some days ago the binary to, and get also some aborts.

Message 240578 - Posted: 1 Feb 2006, 4:30:13 UTC - in response to Message 239910.

First, my apologies for the many reply postings on this subject with no content....

As of 04:00 GMT, February 1, 2006, the issue continues. The download fails but the your reply suggests it is not my configuration. I will continue to let the client run in the background on both servers and hope for the best. Hopefully the condition will clear. It would be nice to have these servers with multiple CPUs burn some cycles crunching numbers rather than generating heat!!!

Thanks and cheers!

Was you able to download the binary ? - If not, I can put the setiathome binary for solaris on my website for download.
