Yes, I agree, the linear thing was my failing, not yours. I just wanted you to see why I was confused.

And no, Jeffy-poo is not my nemesis, arch- or otherwise. I have to admit, though, to a little pre-emptive filtering in his case. Perhaps he didn't deserve it to the same extent as Pauly-poo, but it seemed to me he was going in the same direction.

And as for the diminuative suffix I use for each of them, some may see their use as terms of endearment, but they can also be used to address persons of lesser maturity, capabilities or status. You decide.

I think maybe you have judged Jeffrey too soon. I'm not sure what all the excessive bible quoting was about but he seems to have got a grip and I think his heart is in the right place.

As to your use of the diminuative suffix, I prefer to think you mean it as a term of endearment, the alternative is that you're really up yourself and I'm sure that can't be the case.

Paul... This thread is for God bashers only... Didn't you get the memo? ;)

....sorry, ....a momentary lapse on my part.

I forgot that those who only espouse to hold to Christian ethics, ....would rather not view material which may run contrary to their own selective interpretation of those ethics.

....................... (I can't promise my lapse won't happen again, ...........for I'm neither perfect, ............nor was I created in their image.....)

Court backs religious sect's right to hallucinogenic tea

ASSOCIATED PRESS

February 22, 2006

WASHINGTON – A small branch of a South American religious sect may use hallucinogenic tea as part of a ritual intended to connect with God, a unanimous Supreme Court ruled yesterday.

In its first religious freedom decision under Chief Justice John Roberts, the court said the government cannot hinder religious practices without proof of a “compelling” need to do so.

“This is a very important decision for minority religious freedom in this country,” said lawyer John Boyd, who represents about 130 U.S. members of O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal who live in New Mexico, California and Colorado.

The tea, which contains an illegal drug known as DMT, is considered sacred to members of the sect, which has a blend of Christian beliefs and South American traditions. Members believe they can understand God only by drinking the tea, which is consumed twice a month at four-hour ceremonies.

A trial judge found the government's evidence that the drug is harmful was equal in weight to information provided by the sect that said its method of use in tea is not.

Roberts, in writing the opinion for the court, said the government had failed to prove that federal drug laws should outweigh the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which Congress passed in 1993 to prohibit burdening a person's exercise of religion.

10. Nobody kills you for drinking beer.

Clergy respond to repeat of last years tactics.....

The North Carolina Republican Party asked its members this week to send their church directories to the party, drawing furious protests from local and national religious leaders.

The Rev. Richard Byrd Jr. of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro said anyone who sent in a directory "would be betraying the trust of the membership"

The Rev. Ken Massey of the city's First Baptist Church said the request was "encroaching on sacred territory."

-----------------------

I think the clergy is beginning to see that they were just being used......

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

So this thread is about religions. Well here is my thoughts on religions, but before i do i just want to say HI ALL, This is my first post. Hope to have many more. I just want to say that I do believe that there is a GOD, and that there is life after death. The universe is way too complex to be an accident. and what are we at the most basic elemental level. We are walking columns of energy. Energy does not die, it transforms and continues on, always changing.

On that note here is my thought.
Religions, just a bunch of aliens messing with our heads. thought they could civilize us, boy where they WRONG.
And if this turns out to be true, then those aliens will be one day getting a serious butt kicking.

Think about that for a while.
