We need to test a 256 CPU rack cluster for a bit of time, and I was thinking of using SETI to do so. Can someone tell me how many CPUs BOINC can see, and if it is limited let's say to one blade with two dual cores, or does it use MPI to spread itself in the cluster?

Any other clustering tips would be appreciated too.

Seti did not support MPI. So you have to start one instance of a boinc client, which starts the seti app (for each CPU on the system one process) with a separate directory for each boinc client.
