I have the client running on Solaris 10 (no GUI) and it's been trying to upload its data for a couple weeks now. Apparently the servers were down when my client tried to upload the first few times and now anytime I restart it, I see "Deferring communication with project for X" where X is somewhere over six days. So it seems stuck in this deferred state.

Is there a way to get this client to upload? The one change I've made to the system is to move its network connection so that it no longer needs to use a proxy to connect to the outside. I have eliminated the appropriate proxy information in the client_state.xml and client_state_prev.xml files. The option -return_results_immediately does not do anything. It just returns that Deferring counter. I've also tried -reset_project with no success.

You can use boinc_cmd to acomplish that.

A "./boinc_cmd --project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu update" should to the trick.

The Solaris version of Boinc does not come with boinc_cmd.

You can use boinc_cmd to acomplish that.

Er, I think that means you've lost the result you were trying to upload.

By the way, "Deferring communication with project" refers to contacting the scheduler which is a separate activity from uploading. When the upload has completed, a later scheduler connection will "report" the result.
