Here's the machine specs: Athlon @ 1GHz Gigabyte GA-7IXE-4 MB 512B PC-133 CAS-3 RAM RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.19 Used also as router/gateway/firewall/tertiary DNS at home. I installed the latest BOINC and SETI clients, and proceded to ./run_client to test processing. Every result the machine has crunched has come up "client error".. I stopped it after 5 the first time.. I then went to the SETI-Linux site and downloaded their "Athlon"-optimized client... and got the same results after 4 more workunits. I hate to let this machine sit and do nothing (SETI-wise), so I'd like some help trying to figure out what the heck is going on here. The machine is not clocked, the RAM tests good, it does not run X, and all the libs are as up to date as I can make them. I will be upgrading the MB, Processor, and RAM soon, and when I do (because the network will be down anyway!), I'm going to throw FC4 on it. This one's got me stumped. Could it be a hardware issue? Is the OS too old? What's the scoop here? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. 73 de AI8W, Chris Abdico Concussio Fidens Servo Libertas Semper! ![]() ![]() |

Your stderr.txt reports the error "process got signal 11". Do you have the gcc libs installed ? - Can you please verify it with "ldd projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/setiathome-4....". Do you get these errors with the berkeley standard app, too ? |

Your stderr.txt reports the error "process got signal 11". Same errors with both apps. I get the same error with the static client, too, as in... [chris@uniblab BOINC]$ ldd projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/setiathome_4.07.3a_i686-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu not a dynamic executable So what's a guy to do? 73 de AI8W, Chris Abdico Concussio Fidens Servo Libertas Semper! ![]() ![]() |

Same errors with both apps. Strange. Let's debug... Can you copy the standard seti app and a workunit from the projects directory to /tmp. Name the workunit from the projects directory work_unit.sah" Now cd into /tmp and let "strace ./setiathome-4.... > strace.out 2>&1" run for 5 to 10 minutes, and abort it. Can you please compress the strace.out, and mail it me (seti_boinc at dotsch dot de). |

Same errors with both apps. I'll do that as soon as I get a free hour or two to do it. I'll have to do it remotely, because I'm out on the road (OTR truck driver) on my way to the other side of the country. Thanks for the help. I'll get that to you as soon as I can. 73 de AI8W, Chris Abdico Concussio Fidens Servo Libertas Semper! ![]() ![]() |
