hello,

i have got a rented virtual system where i want to run boinc. this system has no gtk (vnc would be a possibilty) and i would like to manage it by a second pc.
i started boinc on the rented system with option -allow_remote_gui_rpc but i cant find a possibility telling boincmgr or run_manager using rented system

has got anybody some hints for me?

an alternative could be to configure boinc-client via cmd-line. but there's still no manpage or other docs to use the options in the correct algorithm.

has got anybody experience using boinc via cmd-line?

You need to also set a password in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file. Then you use the run_client script on the rented system. Then on your home system you run the manager, go to the file menu and "select computer", type in the IP address of the rented system and the password you put in the .cfg file.

If you DO want to use the commandline interface, "boinc_cmd --help" will give you a list of all the options.

On a seperate note, are you sure you have permission to run BOINC on the rented system? I thought they tended to frown upon such things... I guess you'll find out soon enough if not :)
