Each time my machine requests more work, there is a 1-2 minute period of intense disk activity generally followed by either the "no work available" message or the "no schedulers responded" message. I then get the "deferred communiation" message. This process repeats over and over again until the occasional work unit is doled out by the SETI server. Is there any way to stop the repeated disk thrashing that occurs for each work request? I don't mind letting my machine spend background CPU cycles to help out. I do mind the huge amount of disk activity, especially when it gets repeated over and over again when work isn't available or no repsonse from the servers. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running BOINC 3.20 on OS X 10.3.4 |

That's strange, I never noticed such disk activities. Perhaps starting out with a new BOINC folder helps. You don't get work, so you won't lose any credits with that. If it doesn't help, don't worry: In a distant future there might be enough work units for everyone ;-) fabian ![]() |
