I hate to ask a question which was probably asked many times before but my searches turned out nil. I was wondering, when on multiple projects. Say I have X set at 33%, Y at 33% and z at 33%. I decide to suspend Y and Z, does X become 100% without me having to modify my preferences? I suspend X, does Y and Z become 50/50? |

If you have Project X at 33, Y at 33 and Z at 33. If on host 1 you have attached projects X, Y, and Z, they will get 1/3 of the CPU each. If on machine 2 you have attached X and Y, they will get 1/2 of the CPU each. If on machine 1, you suspend (or have indicated No New Work and have run out of work) project X, then Y and Z will split the CPU time 1/2 each until such time as X is unsuspended. The same is true if a project refuses to send work. Its resource fraction will be 0, and the others will split the CPU time. Note that in this case, BOINC will not attempt to allow it to make up the time later. There are some more plot twists that I can go into if you are interested. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |
