I have been running SETI@home on BOINC for over a week now. I can successfully download workunits and process them, but I am unable to send the results to the project's server. I keep getting messages like the following: sob 03 gru 2005 12:32:45 CET|SETI@home|Started upload of 24my03aa.1611.21841.704808.181_1_0 sob 03 gru 2005 12:32:53 CET|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 21mr05ab.16394.15857.417318.24_0_0: timeout sob 03 gru 2005 12:32:53 CET|SETI@home|Backing off 1 minutes and 0 seconds on upload of file 21mr05ab.16394.15857.417318.24_0_0 I know that such cases had occurred some time ago, when the server's software had some problems and had to be debugged, but I don't think it is the case now, as no new messages concerning such problems have appeared here recently. Could anyone help me? |

It is strange that you can download, and not upload. You last uploaded results are from 26th November. But these six results send back where not validated. Which boinc version do you use ? - 4.72 ? - Have you tried to upgrade to the newest version (5.2.13) ? Have you installed a firewall ? - Did the firewall not block the traffic outside ? You can try to deativate the firewall, and send out the results now. |

It is strange that you can download, and not upload. You last uploaded results are from 26th November. But these six results send back where not validated. The firewall is not an issue - I even disabled the firewall completely and it changed nothing. What's interesting - part of the results is always uploaded successfully - the upload hangs when boinc_gui indicates something between 70% and 100% (yes, 100%) of result uploaded. What concerns the few results that I uploaded on Nov 26th, it was only possible after some strange adjusting of the settings of BOINC. I made it use a proxy, then turned the option off, and then somehow it started working for a while. However, I have been unable to do that again :/ I am also running Rosetta@home - no problems here. |

Looks strange. You can also try to upgrade to the newest boinc version (5.2.13 or 5.2.14). |

Looks strange. 4.72 - the version that is available in my distro's packages. I tried to download the 5.2 version and run it, but it just will accept neither the projects that I am already attached to, nor the work units that have already been processed by the previous version. Is there anything special I should do when upgrading the client software? Thanks so much for your help! |

Looks strange. Normaly, backup your whole boinc directory, and install the new binaries in the same directory. The new boinc client should take over the old configs and your current WUs. But Berkeley had a problem today, so no up- or downloads are posible : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=23894 Don't know if it is solved now. |

It seems that all the time it wasn't my fault, as everything has been fine for some 3 days now although I gave up and changed anything on my side. Once again: thank you for your help! |
