Each unreturned workunit will be resent as necessary to be completed successfully three times.

What does the client do with those ?
Does it trash them or process them
for nothing ?

Thanks
Marc

Currently, it processes them for the possibility that they will be returned before the replacement.

If you have a few of these, I would suggest that you reduce your queue size.

I don't have any now But it might happen some day even if I try to
keep 2-3 days of works only. I could wake up tomorrow and decide
to go to seychelle for a few weeks with a few WU at sleep...

Thanks

One reason for BOINC not clearing the "expired" workunits is because supposedly you can still turn in the workunit and get credit for it... you just have to return it before whoever the workunit gets redistributed to does. I don't know what that does for the person with the redistributed workunit though. Maybe they still get credit if they meet their deadline? I don't know. But either way, as long as it is *possible* to still get credit, I see no reason for BOINC to clear them.

But the real solution is to not download so many units that you can't process them all in two weeks.. which reminds me that I need to put one of my computers back together so that I can let it work through it's cache.

I don't know positively, but it is my understanding *any* valid WU returned before its expiration date will receive credit, including more than 3 returns, as per your scenario stated above.

This is "second hand" info I received from a beta test member posting on my team's forum.

Caveat Emptor - My opinion is free. You get exactly what you pay for.

This is the way that it is supposed to work, bit I don't know that it has actually been tested as this is a fairly rare condition. First the result has to be late, and then it has to be just a little late. Most late results have been completely discarded.
