Why does the new seti app take 19Mb of memory when its not activly doing anything, and more importantly will this reduce in future releases??? If it stays at 20mb, then I'll have to remove it as I don't want the PC to be swapping in and out with disk all the time. |

This is not much different from seti I. In fact the biggest difference is the 5mb that BOINC uses, but this should not be dificult to swap out. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

boinc takes 17 megs when it is running. if you dont want it to use the memory (which your comp should have at least 256 megs) then close it down when you need the ram. ttyl Jeff (Nightowl) keep boinc'ing |

I just find it strange that a non-running app takes so much memory! Even outlook is only taking 14mb when it runs... > > > > > > > Bah!!! I am in it for the money. > > > Message from the Head ;o) of the > Horse Head Nebula Branch of Seti@Home, > > Check is in the mail > |
