I am using Old SETI until 12/15/05 and I am using New SETI at the same time. When Old SETI ends will I receive the full credit as of 12/15/05 or only the credit from when I started my New SETI account?

Neither. Or both. It's how you look at it. ;)

Go to your Seti Account, scroll down to SETI@home classic workunits (as of 15 March 2005);

It was a snapshot made of the Seti Classic database on the 15th of March 2005. Seti/Boinc cannot update the Classic database in realtime, as the whole Classic database needs to be offline to make a snapshot. So the next and last update will be done once Classic shuts down.

You start from zero credits in Seti/Boinc. Read this FAQ in the Wiki on that. The credits in Classic aren't compatible with the credits in Boinc. So the old ones won't be added to the new ones, ever.

Hi John,

First and foremost, welcome to BOINC, I hope that setting up wasn't too confusing. Now to the nitty gritty. Your Classic (Old) BOINC credit is currently listen in your account and is viewable by everyone. it says:

SETI@home classic workunits
as of 15 March 2005 1,222
SETI@home classic CPU time
as of 15 March 2005 13,387 hours

Note that these are as of March 15. Once the final update occurs, they will be up to date and final. HOWEVER The seti credit cannot and will not EVER be converted to BOINC credit. THis is because they count completely different things and there is no fair and reasonable conversion factor.

SO: Your Classic count will be available as WELL as your BOINC credit, but they will not be combined.

Also: Classic runs at a higher priority than BOINC does, which means that they will not both crunch concurrently on the same computer. If you want to stick it out with Classic until Dec 15th, be my guest. BUT may I suggest that you chose one or the other on any specific computer.

Once again, welcome to BOINC!
